Concern on the number of ranks
I just wanted to mention something on the afore mentioned topic. I know some of you want to thin the ranks to 5 or less, but having this many gives HH and I something to pat people on the back with. We both like to throw rank-ups around and give teammates pats on the back and we feel this is a great way to do it. Having this many ranks gives us more opportunities to say, "Keep up the good work. Here's a rank-up." Otherwise we have to be stingy bastards, and no one wants that.
We'll work on taking out a couple if just to prune the unused, but... we're getting to that.

Well, I think e-cookies or hugs would suffice tbh. Ranks are ugly tbh.

Re: Concern on the number of ranks
Yes Tuna, we understand. I guess what me and cheese are trying to criticize is the false labels of superiority that these ranks attach to people. I'm not including the council, which is more that needed for organization purposes, but as players no one is better than no one (except maybe for cheese...he's just flat-out elite), and ranks make seem as tho some players are better than other.
Btw: I know ranks are actually clan accomplishment related as opposed to skill related, but still is a sort of pseudo-sense of superiority I'm talking about.

Agreements. I just think ranks are not necessary and more than anything else demean those of "lower" ranks, I mean differences in skill are obvious and don't need a ranking system.

Re: Concern on the number of ranks
If I may offer an outside opinion here, Chosen used to have a lot of ranks like your clan does currently. I never had any problems with the system; having ranks really didn't bother me, as they marked one's time in the clan, and I felt those that had been around longer deserved respect. Still, Fantuum decided to simplify things and drop to a 4-rank system based around equality.
I can only see a multi-rank system causing problems if the members choose to be jerks.

I loved Chosen's old rank system, but once we changed to new tags, it had no point, since it was hard to show those ranks. It really depends on how you present the clans tags.

Well, lets think for a moment, picture Dunes tags, or Ziplix's, those tags have no use to show a rank tag, but on the other hand, now picture ours, and AOD or {NS} tags, when showing ranks in those sort of tags, it looks good, and fits with the rest of the tag.
I have no idea how much sense I'm making right now, I'm still in sleep mode. O_o

But uhh tbh i like Chosens new and Zipplix cuz it has a inner clan style that only the clan knows.... so peeps outside the clan cant be guessing who is who ect (as far as rank wise) and idk i like disigns and styles

<Clan>Name<Rank> looks good, if it's set out like that.
But if you have wraparound tags like Zip, it looks good without rank tags.
I like these tags though, ranks give members something to work for, and a sense of achievement when they get promoted.

I don't like ranks, and I don't like wearing ranks either, make mah names look ugly, and take too much space

Not necessarily with the tF tags, these are rather short compared to other clans, namely Chosen's old tags, which were about 50000 characters long. Though, this is just my opinion.Mr.cheese wrote:and take too much space

Like the new Chosen tags, right? Where members had one alt code, and admin/council had a more distinguishable one?

I believe DT was our only Subadmin at one point, which is why his tags were different. xDWoot. wrote:ET-Noobie wrote:Like the new Chosen tags, right? Where members had one alt code, and admin/council had a more distinguishable one?

We used to have about 3-4 Subadmins, but they all either left the clan or became Council.
